According to the Indian Statistical Profile 2011, the majority of disabled reside in rural areas, with 1.86 crore living in these regions compared to 0.81 crore in urban areas. Many of these both parents work as daily wage laborers, and literacy rates remain low. Inadequate public transportation further complicated the problem. These factors contribute to the exclusion of these from education, which highlights the urgent need for targeted support for this children in rural areas.
According to 2011 statistics, our district has 2,927 individuals impacted by these conditions. Our services extend to three taluks and 23 villages. Children with disabilities in our region face significant barriers to education and social integration. Many are initially enrolled in mainstream schools but struggle due to inadequate support, leading to limited academic progress and poor social development. For instance, children with cerebral palsy often experience difficulties with speech, communication, and mobility, preventing them from fully engaging in traditional classroom settings.
Our trust, is nestled in the heart of rural Tamil Nadu, is serving as a beacon of hope for intellectually and physically challenged children. What began with just four students has grown into a safe space for over 90 special children, offering education and therapies tailored to their unique needs.
Our work extends beyond the classroom. We’re breaking down barriers, advocating for child rights, and empowering families with knowledge about government schemes and support networks. From early intervention to vocational training, every aspect of our program is designed to nurture independence and self-reliance. Together, we’re bridging the gap between rural and urban, ensuring that no child is left behind.
They are usually mild to severe affected children. As a day care center, Ritham offers convenient transport services, ensuring students are picked up and dropped off at their homes. Our services extend to three taluks and 23 villages.
